Chapter 3 - Converting Video Files to VCD format

  1. Launch TMPG Enc.
  2. The Project Wizard will appear.

  1. Select the VCD format you want to create. Select Video-CD NTSC or NTSC File for playback on all North American DVD players, select Video-CD PAL for playback on all non-North American DVD players.
  2. Click Next.

  1. To select your video file click the Video File Browse button.
  2. The Open dialog box will open.

  1. Select your video file and click Open.
  2. Click Next.

  1. Click the Other Settings button.
  2. The MPEG Setting dialog box will open.

  1. Set the Motion Search Precision to High or Highest Quality to ensure the best quality. For slower PCs you can select Normal but expect some blockiness to be present in the completed video.
  2. Click OK.
  3. Click Next.
  4. Click Next.

  1. To set the name and destination of the encoded video file click the Output File Browse button.
  2. The Save As dialog box will open.

  1. Select the directory and enter the file name you want to save the encoded video file as.
  2. Click Save.
  3. Start encoding (converting) your video file or select more files to convert as a batch.
    1. To begin encoding (converting) this video file now ensure Start Encoding Immediately is checked, then click OK.
    2. To select more video files to encode uncheck Start Encoding Immediately and check Create Another Project(s) For Batch Encoding, then click OK. The Project Wizard will start from the beginning to allow you to select another video file to encode. Follow these directions from Step 3 above and repeat until you've queued all of the video files you want to encode. Once you're done selecting video files to encode ensure Start Encoding Immediately is checked, then click OK
  4. The Project Wizard will close and TMPG Enc will begin encoding your video file(s).
  5. Once the encoding is complete the Progress bar will reach 100% and a chime will sound alerting you that the process is complete.
 

Congratulations! You have encoded (converted) your video(s) to the VCD format. Once burned to a VCD these videos will be playable on any PC that has a VCD player installed or on any stand alone DVD player that is VCD compatible.
